Transformation requires action and actors. But how do we inspire people to act sustainably? In the Master’s programme “Education – Sustainability – Transformation”, studied alongside work, students tackle the complex subject of sustainability and humans from the perspective of the active, intiating person in the transformation process. Students develop their interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary thinking skills and awareness of responsibility, enabling them to communicate and carry out sustainable transformation processes. For this, they require specialist competences to recognise and analyse complex relationships while taking into consideration the dimensions of sustainability. In this programme, students gain an insight into the human psyche and acquire pedagogic and didactic skills to motivate and empower other people to shape and support change.
Programme structure
The study programme focuses on Gestaltungskompetenz, the ability to act in the interests of sustainable development. Over the course of the programme, students design their own educational project for sustainable development and put it into practice in their area of work. In small groups, students have the opportunity to exchange experiences in an informal manner.
The German-language programme is oriented towards a wide range of players in formal and informal education sectors, education directors in large protection areas and local authorities, and decision-makers in politics and companies. Based over five semesters, it is designed for people in employment looking for academic qualification in ESD with a focus on social transformation processes without needing to leave their professions. The fee-paying distance learning course is designed as a Blended Learning concept, using e-learning tools, self-study methods and two or three face-to-face phases per semester, held at the weekend at the HNEE. Graduates are awarded a Master of Arts.
Career opportunities
The programme sets out to train highly-skilled sustainability experts in possession of well-founded specialist knowledge who can go on to share this knowledge with others and inspire others to action. Become an agent of change!
