Forest Information Technology

Information technologies are a key technology of the 21st century. Sustainable forest management therefore requires skilled experts who have been specially trained in the application of modern information technologies (IT) for the forest and environment sectors. Offered in partnership with the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (Poland), the »Forest Information Technology« programme equips students with precisely these skills.

Programme structure

The study programme, taught exclusively in English, combines forest management, land use and other environmental topics with modern IT applications. Students learn to work with industry-standard software, develop a critical understanding of processes in forest and environmental management and discover how to creatively utilise IT applications to define problems and find solutions. After the first semester in Eberswalde, the second semester is completed in Warsaw. This offers students an opportunity to expand their intercultural skills and earn a double degree through the fulfilment of the requirements at the Polish partner university. Scheduled for the third semester, the practical project can be completed at a university, an institute, in a company or at an organisation in Germany or abroad and prepares students for their international professional working life after graduation.
